SWAP Sportz Summer B-ball Camp 2022 (Greensboro)

SWAP Sportz Summer Basketball camps are designed to be multidimensional, creating an experience that kids will remember for a lifetime!

There are 3 components to our camps, which are:

1. The conventional basketball skill and development teaching.

2. Speed/Agility and proper movement training. 

3. Life Skills classes, where kids are expose to the different layers of sports, and how they relate to life. In this class campers are taught how to do a variety of things throughout the week. (Such as: acting, public speaking, and how to conduct themselves within a team setting).

Date/Time: July 11-July 15 from 9am-4pm (Free Hour of After Camp care until 5pm)

Who: Boys/Girls rising 2nd-8th grade

SWAP Sport Summer Basketball Camp 2019

Our Summer Basketball Camp was held this year at St. Mary Magdalene in Apex, NC, where our SWAP kids were able to grow with one another to further develop their skills both on and off of the basketball court.

Fully staffed with former ACC and Division-1 basketball players, high level instruction and coaching was around the clock.

In between stations, there were breaks where kids played games headed by the director in order to win prizes such as a coveted copy of the newest "NBA 2K Sports" basketball video game. After the mini-games, there was a meditation and breathing session in which the players went through a mental exercise and relaxation period.

After lunch, they reported back to the gym where there would be a special guest that demonstrated their life lessons and story through a speech and an interactive team activity. These involved team building exercises, where there were winners and losers.

Long time basketball coach Brian Clifton then put the players through a team learning station, where the players learned essential team play and fundamentals. To end the day, the players split up into their station teams and had live play where scores and records were kept to have a champion at the end of the week.

At the end of the week, what were once mostly strangers in a gym became a family-oriented community where integrity, character, and Sporting With A Purpose was second nature.

Ekpe Udoh, (NBA) Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, LA Clippers, (College) Baylor University

 Ekpe Udoh, SWAP Sportz Special Guest Player

Ekpe is headed to China this year to play in the CBA. He told his story of earning his stripes in college before becoming the sixth overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft. He then went on to talk about his life outside of basketball, and all the possibilities that go along with it, as he started his own book club.

Jay Joseph, UNCG Basketball Hall Of Fame, Professional Overseas, Pennsylvania Basketball Shooting Academy

 Jay Joseph, SWAP Sportz Special Guest Coach 

Coach Jay Joseph talked about his basketball journey and the lessons he was able to learn from it, and how these lessons are essential to his everyday life, even after basketball. He was one of the best shooters to ever come out of UNCG and went on to play professionally overseas. Coach Jay put the players through a competitive team shooting drill.

Max Farthing, North Carolina State University Basketball Class of 2023, Word of God Academy alumni

 Max Farthing, SWAP Sportz Special Guest Player 

Max Farthing is headed into his Freshman year at NC State University. A Word of God graduate, he shared his underdog story and his process of being admitted into college as a student-athlete. He also shared his wisdom on what it took to see success in his teenage years, where a lot of his peers didn't take the extra steps that he did.
