SWAP Sport Summer Basketball Camp 2019

Our Summer Basketball Camp was held this year at St. Mary Magdalene in Apex, NC, where our SWAP kids were able to grow with one another to further develop their skills both on and off of the basketball court.

Fully staffed with former ACC and Division-1 basketball players, high level instruction and coaching was around the clock.

In between stations, there were breaks where kids played games headed by the director in order to win prizes such as a coveted copy of the newest "NBA 2K Sports" basketball video game. After the mini-games, there was a meditation and breathing session in which the players went through a mental exercise and relaxation period.

After lunch, they reported back to the gym where there would be a special guest that demonstrated their life lessons and story through a speech and an interactive team activity. These involved team building exercises, where there were winners and losers.

Long time basketball coach Brian Clifton then put the players through a team learning station, where the players learned essential team play and fundamentals. To end the day, the players split up into their station teams and had live play where scores and records were kept to have a champion at the end of the week.

At the end of the week, what were once mostly strangers in a gym became a family-oriented community where integrity, character, and Sporting With A Purpose was second nature.
